Default Newb Question: Installing OSX on USB Thumb Drive, NOT SSD. - 12-31-2008, 11:38 PM

Hey guys. I have an extremely newb question for you: I was curious if it's possible, using Type 11's method to install OSX Leopard from the retail copy onto a USB Thumb Drive so I can boot off that when I want to, albeit a slow boot or whatever. I would like to do this on my Mini 9 so I can just use my Thumb Drive for OSX, while using the SSD for my XP Partition. The reason is because I bought the Mini primarily for my mom, and she uses XP.

SO, I would just like to install Leopard on a Thumb Drive and boot from that sometimes -- is this possible?

I looked through the forums, on InsanelyMac and couldn't find a definite answer or an easy, complete HOW TO. If anyone could point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you!

Yes, it's no problem, works great. Same deal as installing to an external USB hard drive.

Tired of wondering if your Mini9 is doing ANYTHING? - Add a HDD Activity LED
