Unhappy Battery Toast - after 1 month of no use - 04-08-2010, 02:45 PM

Has anyone had their battery die after about a month of no use? When I turn it on it says that the system can't identify the battery and will not charge it. I have left it charging for 12 hours. I have removed the battery to try to "reset" it.

After about 30 seconds of use (plugged in) the system just turns off as if I pulled it out of the wall or something. Stinks because there really is no way to even reset it to windows to try to troubleshoot.

Any ideas?

I had the exact same issue with a refurbished Mini 10v. When I tried to plug in the AC adapter, the LED that would normally glow white (indicating charging) would flash amber instead and give me the error message you listed.

I had to contact Dell and thankfully it was still under the warranty period so they sent me a new battery. I have had the new battery in for months and no further issues have come up. A new battery is probably the solution.
