Hi

I have installed SL on an external USB Hard Drive. I then trimmed, updated to 10.6.2, then installed NetbookInstaller 0.8.4

I can then boot my Mini9 to this, as long as USB Legacy is enabled.
With SL running from the external HD, my mouse becomes almost unusable - trackpad and/or external mouse.

I then ran Disk Utility - erased the SSD, on Journaled and GUID
I then Restored the USB to the SSD, using Disk Utility (SuperDuper crashes)
I then run NetbookInstaller 0.8.4 on the SSD

It won't boot, but if I boot to the USB, then press a key on the Chameleon loader, I can choose the SSD and continue the boot from there.

So, it appears that the SSD does not have the necessary files to boot properly.

I tried once to run NetBootMaker - but this didn't work

OK, update.

I erased my SSD again. This time, I used Carbon Copy Cloner and checked the option to do more than a File copy....
I then ran 0.8.4 version of NetbookInstaller and chose only the Chameleon and Dell Mini9 extension
Rebooted and this time it found a bootloader and started

My clean install now has 3.6Gb used and 3.6Gb free ( I deleted the library/updates folder)

Boot time is similar than my 10.5.7 I had before, will know about with apps once I re-instate all my Simlinks to my SDHC

So, onwards and upwards and thanks to Mechdrew and others for the Installers!

No idea why it failed before.... but interestingly, Disk Utility restore creates a larger image than the original...
