Default Mac OS question upgrading NB - 03-13-2010, 04:30 PM

Hi all

Not only am I a complete newbie, but have to admit that I got someone else's mini 9 when they upgraded to a 10v. Therefore, I never actually had to install the Mac OS myself.

It has 0.8.3 NBI and OS 10.6..2

At some point in the future I guess I will need to upgrade the OS to 10.6.3 and beyond.

My reading of the forum threads suggest that this will need the 0.8.4 NBI to make 10.6.3 work (which I am aware is still in a pre version)

My question is how to actually do the upgrade of both, when the time comes. Will I need to start the process of booting from a USB drive with NBI on it and the whole OSX or just the upgrade. Also will I need to reload everything back on after install.

Thanks in advance

If you want to update the version of NBI on your mini 9, all you need to do is download it and run it, selecting the options you want to use.

Mini 9 | OS X 10.6.7 | NBI 20100616212351| BIOS 05 | 32 GB Runcore | 2 GIGS RAM
10V | OS X 10.6.7 | NBI 20100616212351 |BIOS 06|160 GB|1 GIG RAM| 6 Cell Dell Battery
Functioning Hibernation

Back up Mini 9| OS X 10.6.7| NBI 20100616212351| BIOS 05 | 32 GB SuperTalent | 2 GIGS RAM

many thanks

Once the NBI installer is updated, can I then use software update to install 10.6.3 2hen it is released?

Yes you can. I actually keep NBI in my application folder just in case the need arises. Mostly for me because of an inherit inability to leave my OS's alone and stop all the experimentation with new OS's.
