Ok found this page:
Which has some more info on where they are getting their pin values. Maybe fgodfrey or KM9 can make sense of how to do the codecgraph stuff. With that, we might be able to figure out what we need for speaker/headphone output.

I was just poking around the what works and what does not thread, and I read this with interest:
"When using my mac wireless keyboard, the mute function works fine. A more correct statement may be that the mute key does not work. This may also mean that mute as a function can be invoked without an external keyboard."
Has anybody with a mac wireless keyboard tried toggling between mute and unmute to check to see if our issue is perhaps that the audio is just coming up muted after waking from sleep and we have no way to unmute it without a working key combination? I don't have a mac wireless external keyboard to try, but if someone does...
I know it's probably just wishful thinking, but it might be worth a look! Thanks to everybody trying to nail this issue.

Even audio overlay is weird though (different from my real Mac): When I press Mute, it shows me a greyed out speaker (Normal), but still shows white bars underneath and an Xed out circle (abnormal)---and if I haven't yet put it to sleep yet, it continues to play sound. Even when I lower the volume to zero bars, I still get audio out of the speakers.
So it's not just a sleep issue; control of the volume is wonky regardless.

Frank, you're quoting me there. I have since been unable to duplicate muting the system using the wireless keyboard. I must have had the volume down quite low or otherwise been unable to hear the sound. To put it simply, I was talking out of my butt.
