Cool 1x4gb SODIMM OSX 10v i.e. 4gb in netbook? - 02-28-2010, 03:56 PM

Has anyone tried upgrading memory to 4gb using a 1x4g sodimm on a 10v/SnowLeo netbook such as with:

4GB 4G DDR2 667 667MHz 200 pin SODIMM Laptop Memory Module for Windows 7 - TRD2-6674GSa -

I'm interested in upgrading to 4gb, but I've also heard that the computer will only recognize about 3.25gb only when using a 1x4gb sodimm card. Or will a 1x4gb sodimm not even be recognized or work at all?

(I understand that the price of 4gb is 50% of the netbook, but I just want to watch HD movies without a stutter which right now my 2gb 10v/snowleo stutters ever so slightly with HD movies. This would still be far below a MacBook Pro price.)

Ideas, opinions, experience?

All of the Dell Minis will accept 2GB RAM maximum. A 4GB DIMM will not be recognized. This is a limitation of the memory controller in the chipset or processor (1012).
