Default Remote sharing with 10v - 02-21-2010, 05:18 PM

I recently installed OSX on my 10v (all went well) and was wanting to install iLife and iWork. A relative has both of these that they'll let me use but I'm not sure how to install them. I was wondering if I could enable remote disk sharing (like on the macbook air) on my mini? I've seen some guides for this but they're all for 10.5 and not 10.6 (btw I'm running 10.6.2). Thanks to everyone who helps

You can enable Remote CD as an option in NetbookInstaller. However, you should buy your own copies of iLife and iWork as copying software is not encouraged on this forum (unless your relative is actually giving you their copy).

If I didn't enable that when I installed OSX can I just do it now? Or would that mess with my data, etc. And don't worry, he has the family copy (can be installed up to 5 times, I believe).

In that case just re-run NBI now and just choose the 'Enable Remote CD' option.

You should be good to go then

Okay that seems to work. I'll have to make sure on Wednesday when I install iLife. Also, could I install it the same way I installed Snow Leopard? Via flash drive?

I dont see why not, if you create a .dmg of the disc and then restore that to a flash drive it should work fine.

In fact, if you can create a .dmg on your relatives machine you can just either copy it to your machine and mount it or mount it directly over the network. No need to use a flash drive.
