Default Disk Utility and ISOs - 02-21-2010, 04:19 PM

So on Friday, I made a disk image of my USB install of OS X. But now when I try to rewrite the ISO back to the usb key, it won't let me. When i try to it says I have to scan it for restore, but when I try to it then says "Unable to Scan "file name"(invalid arguement)" Is there another program I can use to write the image to my USB key, other than Disk Utility?

You could try using TransMac, which has proved very popular.

The procedure is as folows:

Install TransMac and then run the program. Insert the DVD into your drive and the larger USB drive into an available port. Right-click on your DVD, select "Save Image of Disk" and save it to a folder on your hard drive. Wait for this to finish. Next, right-click on your flash drive, highlight "Format Disk" and select "Format with Disk Image". Select the DVD image you just created, "Open", and then click "Yes". Wait for this to finish, this will probably take at least half an hour.

Hope this helps!

That actually assumes you are starting from scratch, which I can now see is not what you are actually trying to do here, but I will leave the post in situ, just in case it is of some help.

They don't make Transmac for mac, do they? Im running into this problem, with only a working Mac OS. My nephew destroyed my Retail disk, so i'm trying to do this without having to repurchase the Retail disk again.

Edit: So when I verify the image, it says the image is ok. So I don't understand why I can't scan the image for restore. Is there anyway around this?
