Default Switching between windows and other stuff... - 02-17-2010, 10:31 AM

Hi guys,
Being a Mac OS noob, I have a couple of minor annoyances:

1. In order to switch between windows of a single app (for example multiple Safari windows), the shortcut is supposed to be "command + ~". I, however, have a german keyboard, and under OS X, the ~ key is some option + number key combination, and it doesn't seem to work... My question is, can I remap the shortcut to something else? (resolved!)

2. Is there a way of making iCal use Growl for notifications and reminders? The generic popups are somewhat annoying, and as I am using Haret for Mail notifications, I would enjoy having similar thing for iCal, to achieve a homogenous look

I'll really appreciate any input you give me

To show all open windows of one application hold Fn (Function) and press F10. Then you can click on the one you want.
To show all open applications hold Fn (Function) and press F9.
To show the desktop hold Fn (Function) and press F11.
To show all gadgets hold Fn (Function) and press F12.

Hope that helps.

Yeah, I should have mentioned, I know I can do it via Expose, and I do use it, but sometimes I wish I could simply toggle between the windows of an application by using a key combination, similar to using alt+tab in windows... Thanks for the reply anyway

CTRL-F4 will toggle between non-minimized windows, ala ALT-TAB on Windows. On a Mac keyboard, that's really a CTRL-FN-F4.

For your first question: yes, you can remap the shortcut.

This is done under system preferences -> Keyboard -> Keyboard shortcuts
