Default using F (f6, f11, f12)keys without Fn - 02-13-2010, 11:43 AM

ive been looking all over how to do this but still stumped!
how to get my function keys (10v running 10.6.0) to act like normal function keys without pressing Fn to trigger a "f6".
i heard to set this in the keyboard settings of sys pref but that setting is not there for some reason.
does anyone have some suggestions or experience with this?
thanks!!

I believe it is a BIOS-setting, and not a preference in OS X. Next time you boot, press F2 to enter BIOS and look for it there.

It's a preference on a 'real' mac but doesn't appear on the mini 'hack'. I guess this is because Apple keyboards are standard one model to the next whereas there are far too many variations in the miniverse for a system preference to work?

Yes, it will, you will have to use Fn+key to adjust brightness and volume
