Question Help! kernel panic when installing OSX on an A90 - 01-25-2010, 02:15 AM

I have a dell A90 that I am installing OS X 10.6 on using NetbookInstaller 2.

I followed the instructions using a tradeshow giveaway drive for NBI and an 8 GB sandisk cruiser for the disk image. NBI works fine, when i select the CD I get a Kernel panic that says

"unable to find driver for this platform: \"ACPI".\n"@/SourceCache/xnu/xnu-1456.1.25/iokit/Kernel

I don't know what to do.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

pi r tasty,
Why NBI 2 and not a later one.
What is your BIOS?

What NBI did you use to install?

Dell Mini 9 (Vostro) 2GB Ram - 32 GB RunRev SSD - A05 - OS X.6.5- NBI 20100616212351

I was using the direct download from this guide:

NetbookInstaller 2: USB Mac Installation via Any Operating System | Guides | OS X | mechdrew

NBI_083F dd Image

So, long story short, I'm installed as of now.

I tried copying the install SL image in linux this time...still got a kernel panic but this time was ummmm unsupported CPU. I then re copied the NBI to the smaller thumb drive and tried again. Once I got the boot loader to run...the install worked. I was surprised and I can't point exactly to what I did that made the magic happen outside of recopying the NBI.

Thanks for the response maddog.
