I like the touch interface on the iPhone, because of what it isn't, a tiny crippled keyboard. For me, with that small a form factor, it really works. At the scale of a tablet, I'd expect a keyboard. My mini, small though it is, allows me to really code in a pinch. The tablet feels like a bigger phone... and I'll sacrifice screen real estate for size in that product spot. As I said, I am sure Apple will make other announcements alongside their "iTablet" release that will make it more attractive, such as "eBook" stuff on iTunes [possibility??] I am also unaware of the technical specs of the iTablet so I cannot say whether that is a pro/con for me. No doubt, Apple will put out a product with a sexy design... but only time will tell the rest. Meklort's Blog | NBI Google Code Page | osx.mechdrew.com -- the best OSX installation guides |

I think it's pretty clear that it won't be in the netbook space, and I'd expect it to be more of a consumer product. Perhaps something along the lines of the Archos products? But I think there will be content tie-ins which will give it an edge. Perhaps you'll be able to read your daily paper through it or download monthly magazines? I can't see me getting one to replace my Mini 9, but I could see myself getting one to use in different situations to my Mini 9. |
