Default Best mouse for 10.6.2 (10v) - 01-17-2010, 02:55 PM

Bluetooth or usb?
On the smaller size preferably.
Don't want to connect/reconnect everytime - just power on and go.

My experience with a BT mouse is that getting it to reconnect reliably after sleep is problematic: Must disconnect before sleep, etc.

USB mouse seems less a problem but does tie up a usb port and require either a wired mouse or a usb dongle.

I have a 10v without built in BT so use a Belkin micro dongle which works well with a Logitech BT 470 mouse. There is a delay in connection on wake, however, of about a second but it is not irritating.
I also have used a VX Nano, also from Logitech, which comes with its own micro RF dongle. A beautiful mouse and no connection lag on wake.
I switched to the BT one because I prefer the VX on my main machine, and it allows me two free USB ports.

Over in the accessories forum there is a thread on the Dell BT travel mouse. It is a rebadged Logitech mouse. I got one, really like it.

I've got a Bluetooth Apple Mighty Mouse (the one with the little grey scrollball) and it works flawlessly. Then again, I've also got a Belkin external bluetooth, not sure how it would work with internal bluetooth cause I'm not sure how well internal bluetooth works. :P

I've got a Magic Mouse connected via an internal BT module and it works brilliantly apart from you have to remember to disconnect it before the machine goes to sleep otherwise BT gets screwed up when it wakes

I have both the Logitech VX nano & the Mighty Mouse & for your criterion I would say go for the 'Logitech VX nano' which has a really small USB dongle & could be left in permanently without worrying about snapping it off. The software that comes with it also allows certain short-cuts to be specified & works well. No problems with the resuming after sleep etc (MM has been reported to on occasion not resume after waking up from sleep)

the reason I liked the kens is because the small dongle and the mouse is very flat
