How many of you have Snow Leopard installed and do not have a brightness slider in your display settings?
I think this has to do with how you install Snow Leopard but I am not positive. I have a mini 10v and a 24" iMac and did a fresh install of snow leopard using the $30 Upgrade Disc on both machines. I updated both the mini 10v and iMac to 10.6.2 and both machines do not have a brightness slider in the display settings. The messed up thing is that the brightness buttons work on the mini 10v but do not work on my iMac so there is no way to change brightness on the iMac. All the other functions keys work such as expose, volume, etc..
And another weird thing is if I restart my iMac in 64 bit mode (holding down 6 and 4 before apple logo) the brightness slider is in my display settings and the F1 and F2 buttons work. When I restart back into 32 bit mode by default the brightness slider disappears and the keys dont work again..
I think this only happens when you do a fresh install using the $30 upgrade disc but I am not certain. I took my iMac in to Apple and they reinstalled everything to 10.6.2 and everything is fine now, brightness slider is in display settings and my F1 and F2 brightness keys work now.
I don't really care about not having the brightness slider on my mini 10v since the keyboard keys work but I just thought it would be interesting to see how many other people are experiencing this problem. Thanks
