Default Network file transfers don't 'stick'! - 12-29-2009, 02:48 PM

Rather than swap to my alternate boot Win 7, I've been trying to use the OSX 10.6.1 installation to copy files off my camcorder SDHC cards up to my media server.
I can see the media server from OSX, I'm logged into it as root. I can create a new directory, I can initiate the copy, watch the file list appearing greyed on the media server's window on the mini. The file progress bar appears, all progresses and the files in the media server window change one by one from greyed to full black. Then at the end, the whole lot just vanish again and I'm left with an empty directory!!! It's as though they are put there but some final commitment of the multiple copy fails. There are no error messages, and there is plenty of space on the media server, which uses SMB.
Trying the same in Windows 7 works.
I'd love it if anyone has any ideas please!
