Default update NBI to new version - 12-27-2009, 07:18 PM

dear all,

I am very happy to have an working 10v with OSX 10.5.8 (NBI 0.8.2).....(no BT, 2GB Ram). BTW: Thanks to the perfect guides here!
I did this few months ago.
Now I have a lot of usefull apps and documents on my mini which I dont want to reinstall (backup) everything over again if not needed.

now there is the new NBI final out and the SL is also more stable I read.

So I have some questions.

1) how can I only update from NBI 0.8.2 final to NBI 0.8.3 final? (many people got problems leads to endless boot-loop..... is this already solved?)

2) is OS 10.6.2 much better than 10.5.8? will you recomment to update?
Is reinstall much better(recomment) then update? if update is ok how should i do? (reinstall i know)

Thanks to everybody who can help me.

You can just run NetbookInstaller and select the options to install the extensions. There haven't really been any improvements for 10.5.8, so that's all you would need.

As for upgrading to 10.6.2, if you are happy with your 10.5.8 system there isn't much reason to upgrade besides less hard drive space used. If you do decide to upgrade, you can do just a simple upgrade like I did, you don't need to do a fresh install.

Hello Mechdrew,

thanks for your answere

I want to get the new multi-touch-pad-driver (from NBI 0.8.3 ) thats the reason why I want to update.
Till now I didnĀ“t install the RCs from 0.8.3, I am still only on 0.8.2 final.

Is there still a problem with 0.8.3 final? I read about booting-loop for 10V?
Do I need to update the NBI in normal mode or safe mode (-x)?

thanks for help.

best regards
