Default Choppy Video Clips - 12-23-2009, 10:14 AM

I successfully hackintoshed a 10v (10.6.2 RC5), everything works great except for when I watch movie trailers on the apple homepage and youtube. The video seems choppy and sluggish. I can't seem to find a way to fix this!

Can someone help please?

You may wish to install ClickToFlash. On Youtube and other compatible websites, the plugin will load the equivalent Quicktime video, which apparently has a lower overhead than rendering/playing Flash video.

From experience, playing the HD Youtube videos always results in choppy playback because the processor in the 10v isn't capable of rendering these quick enough.

I play trailers through FrontRow, and these work perfectly.

I don't know if it applies on OSX, but when browsing YouTube and some other video sites on Linux, the Flash plugin saves the buffering video to a file with a "Flash" prefix under "/tmp" (the system temp dir).

So, to play YouTube well on my Mini 9, I start the video buffering on YouTube, then I change away from the browser and open the file under "/tmp/" with a standalone player capable of playing Flash videos. I use Mplayer, but I'm sure VLC would work, too.
