Default How to do macos "option click" on Dell 9 mini. - 12-07-2009, 01:31 PM

How do you do what MacOs considers to be an "option click" on the Dell 9 mini running Snowleopard? I want to option click itunes so that I can choose what library it uses.

Thanks,

Dave

I tried that and it didn't seem to work. iTunes came up with no option to choose the library. I hold down the windows key and then left click the itunes icon at the bottom of the screen. I'll play with it some more tonight. Thanks.

The "choose a library" option for iTunes (or iPhoto, etc) isn't actually an "option click" - it's holding the option key down when the application starts (subtle difference).

So you need to keep holding down the option (Windows) key as the application starts up (I hold it until I get the "choose a library" popup). You can even just do a normal click and then hold down the option key. Or (what I do) is use Quicksilver to launch it and then hold down the option key as it starts up (so no clicks involved at all).

The keys on a Windows computer are on the left, Mac on the right...

Control/Ctrl - Control
Alt - Option
Windows Key (Super Key in Linux) - Command

Those are set on default for the mini's, if you use a Windows USB keyboard, the Windows and Alt keys might be switched. That was my case with my Logitech G11.

Also, Holiding control and clicking acts as a right click on a mac
