Default Would you buy a $600 Apple Netbook?! - 12-02-2009, 04:46 PM

Let's say Apple built a 10" netbook with competitive features and had normal Apple options like boot-camp etc, and maybe a screen of at least 1024X768, would you buy one? I would. If not, what options would it have to have and at what cost?

Nope.

Must be under $400. I do not need an underpowered machine that costs $600 when an extra $50 can get me a real Core 2 Duo processor in a laptop. And at that point if I want Apple I might as well get an entry 12" Apple laptop.

If it was ION based, sure, since all ION netbooks seem to be around that price (once configured correctly)

They haven't made a 12' laptop since the days of the Powerbook G4, and even then that was well over $1k. If you want a real mac, they start at $899 at the refurbished section of their store.

Firewire: Yeah, lets ask them to put an option they hate in there for good measure, I like that idea

I think this thread is targeted towards those who are already running OSX on their Mini and would possibly be interested in an "official" Apple netbook.

If it does not interest you, then move on I will move this into the Apple subforums since that is the targeted group in the survey.

It would have to be worth it. A rebadged Mini10 wouldn't cut it for $600, for example. Now, if they built one using their aluminum case with a trackpad like the new Mac laptops, a decent screen, ION chipset, 2 RAM slots, SSD/large HDD options, SD reader, and some of the other Apple flair, it might be worth considering. At that point it looks like a Macbook someone shrunk. I'd be interested.

I think you'd have to find a machine with an Intel processor vs the G4 you list there. Can't run Snow Leopard in a G4.
