Default Operating System Cannot Be Found - 11-25-2009, 04:45 PM

I've had OS X 10.5.8 running for a couple of months now and I haven't touched my Dell Mini 9 for about a month. When I went to use it again, it sat in the boot page (black screen) trying to load the OS off the SSD drive. It does the loading from disk and the ... but returns an Operating System Cannot Be Found or OS doesn't exist.

What would cause this? I'm assuming my SSD has gone bad or the OS just became unstable. I'm going to try and install Snow Leopard at some point over this holiday weekend and see if my drive is totally b0rked.

Anyway, is there a way to determine what the actual cause was before I potentially waste my time trying to install an OS that won't work anyway?

Dell Mini 9, 1 GB Ram, standard issue hardware (BT, Webcam, WiFi (no 3G)) etc.

I guess I posted this in the wrong area.

I re-seated the hard drive and RAM and now the BIOS doesn't even POST. It just gives me 3 beeps on a blank screen. Don't even think the screen even turns on.

you might have slightly unplugged the video cable from the LCD or MB, there are guides on this forum that you can look at to check all that...
