Default ramdisk useful ? - 11-24-2009, 10:17 PM

Hi there,

i saw on windows threads that it's useful to have a ramdisk to move the tmp/temp folders and to disable the swap.

Will it be possible under OSX to do the same and how ?

In Mac OS9 you could create a RAM disc, I don't believe you can in OSX.

You can create a ramdisk using hdiutil (102400 is the number of blocks, and one block is 512 bytes, in this case, 50MB)
hdiutil attach -nomount ram://102400
You then an format the disk and mount it were ever you want to.
