Default Slim your Mac article - 12-13-2008, 11:01 AM

I know a lot of this is already covered elsewhere in the forums but some people may find this article on ways to slim down and speed up a Mac useful:

Dell Mini 9. 2GB RAM. 64GB Runcore SSD. 32GB SDHC. Novatel 3G WWAN.
Hacked MacBook Air SuperDrive. Real HD LED.
Quad booting OS X, Ubuntu 8.1, XP Pro and Windows 7.

Yeah, I read that and thought about posting it here, but we've already got all those suggestions, and we even took it a couple steps further, like turning off spotlight and using a non journaling file system. As for turning off special effects and such, I really don't think it hurts performance at all, I even have them turned on on my son's 800MHz G4 iMac with Leopard installed on it.

Tired of wondering if your Mini9 is doing ANYTHING? - Add a HDD Activity LED
