Default Flash Player 10.1 Pre-Release...Finally Usable? - 11-17-2009, 12:32 PM

Anyone else notice the new Flash Player 10 in Adobe Labs seems to fix the high CPU / jittery video for sites such as YouTube? I don't get any skips, dropped frames, etc. on YouTube anymore. Seems a lot more usable now.

Adobe Labs - Downloads: Flash Player 10.1

From an informal Gizmodo review Flash 10.1 Tests: Graphics Boosted HD Hulu and YouTube Video? Yes Please - Flash - GizmodoIndicate that OSX didnt get the GPU support but we do see a lowered CPU consumption.

Maybe they'll add it later or something... maybe....

I get much smoother playback here, but my firefox still jumps to 120% CPU usage when watching a video and severe lag in the application while its playing.

Still, much better playback.

I asked if anyone had tried 10.1 in the OSX/Mini10V forum, and was going to try, did you uninstall your 10.0 flashplayer first before installing 10.1?

I did a straight upgrade on my 10v. It has definitely improved YouTube performance, almost no stutter even in full screen, which didn't work before. I'm going to go check Hulu next.

Unhappy Flash 10.1 and Chrome - 11-18-2009, 02:45 PM

Flash Player 10.1 and Chrome don't seem to work together well. There is a speed up for things like youtube but blush seems to kill off Facebook Zynga type games.
