Update: HUGE mistake - what I ran before hitting restart was 8.3.RC3 (darnit)
So, I'm working on it right now.

Ok, I did it that way and it didn't work.
Here is what I did:
installed netbookinstaller 8.3.RC4 and ran it.
Then, downloaded and ran the 10.6.2 combo update BUT DID NOT HIT RESTART
Soon as it said it was done, I ran the netbookinstaller 8.3.RC4 again.
When it was finished, I went ahead and hit restart

Sadly, it now is in the boot loop where it will not boot.
Any advise?

OK, thanks. I haven't attempted it yet. I'd installed '6.0 and '6.1 with help from NBM 0.8.3 RC3.

Knew I had to run NBM 0.8.3 RC4 but didn't realize I could run it prior to running the Combo update, and knew if I waited until *after* it'd be too late.

well, I'm back up and running.
Ok, so from what I'm gathering the RIGHT way to do it is:
1. download NBI 8.3RC4 (emphasis on the 4)
2. download the 10.6.2 update. Run it BUT DO NOT SELECT RESTART when it is finished - INSTEAD...
3. Run NBI 8.3RC4 and when it is finished, then, go back and
4. click on the restart on the combo

That is how I understand it. Of course, I had to take the hard route, but, hey, what the heck.

UPDATE: At the time of writing this I thought I was up - but nope. For some reason my bios only wanted to boot from network. Took some fiddling but finally got it working. Restored and update and all was well.
The key to this is running 8.3RC4 first - then do the upgrade without restarting, then run RC4 again, restart - and life is good. Whew.

I just hack my mini 10v using NBM 0.8.3 RC4 with snow leopard. I updated to 10.6.2 afterward. Sorry for my ignorance, but do I need to instl NBI 8.3RC4. If I install it now, after the combo update, what will that do to my netbook? Is there a forum that tells you exactly how to run NBI and what to check and uncheck? Does this have anything to do with OS X not recognizing the sound card? Thanks

Excuse my ignorance in this first post!

Just installed SL from a USB stick to my Mini 9, installed NBI (not sure which version), and then used software update to install the 10.6.2 update (which is installed after a restart).

Now its stuck in an infinite boot loop. I've tried using -x for safe mode, but I'm still stuck in the boot loop!

Can I rescue this install in anyway?
