Default 10.5.8 Security Update - Should I install? - 11-10-2009, 01:51 AM

I am currently running 10.5.8. Is 10.5.9 going to be released with 10.6.2? Has anyone installed the security update that became available today (11/9/09)?

I would think it should be OK to take it but I don't want to be the first to try since I'm on vacation. I too would like to know if others have taken it without any problems.

Installed on a mini 9 running 0.8.3 RC3. It installed and rebooted with no difficulty, but it seems to have disabled all sound output. I'd hold off until more is known.

Yes, I did, and then rebooted. But I just ran it again, and now sound seems to be working. Damned if I know what's going on.

I Installed it. Rebooted to Safe Mode reinstalled NB 8.2 Final. Lost my sound after sleep. Reinstalled VoodooPowerMini kext. Sound came back. Boots fine. Runs fine. *Shrug*

I had an issue with the 10.5.8 combo update I downloaded yesterday. With NB.8.3 RC3, couldn't get sound after sleep. Followed this post (buried in the .8.3 thread), and have sound after sleep. Basically, AppleHDA.kext disappeared on me.

Smile Good News on Security Update 2009-006 - 11-12-2009, 09:52 AM

Installed the Security Update 2009-006 today on system listed in signature line with no problems. Downloaded update from apple software update, rebooted with -x, then repaired permissions. Everything in 10.5.8 using DellEFI is working as it was. Hope this helps...
