Question Upgrading SSD on Mac OS X - 11-03-2009, 02:41 PM

A month and a half ago, I bought a dell mini 9 with Mac OS X installed on it. After installing XCode, I no longer have enough space to dual boot into windows. I'd like to purchase a 32 GB runcore ssd, but I'm not sure if Mac OS X would still work.

Is it possible to clone the 16 GB to the 32 GB and have it work without re-installing OS X?

Yes, the RunCore has a usb connection. You would clone it over as you would to any external usb drive.

I know, but does cloning keep all of the boot information and everything?

Has anyone ever done it this way?

Yeah, it should. Did you install using NetBookInstaller?

There are numerous posts on doing this (I have a SuperTalent, so I haven't done it myself).

Seems pretty straightforward.

Worst case scenario, you might need to rerun NBI to install the bootloader, but I don't think that is necessary with NBI anymore.

If you used DellEFi, it might be a little trickier, but still doable without a reinstall of the OS.

Thanks. Now I'll be able to dual boot MacOSX and WindowsXP or triple boot Karmic Koala, WindowsXP and MacOSX
