Default Constant momentary beach balls. - 12-07-2008, 01:06 PM

Hi everyone. I've got a working Type11 OS X install on my Dell Mini 9 (2GB RAM, 32GB MDD MLC SSD, 1.3MB webcam, BT). I've disabled journaling and spotlight, and set the BIOS USB appropriately (no USB legacy, USB allow wake).

EDIT: I should mention I'm using 5.1 of the Type11 iso.

But most of the commands I issue, from menu selects and app launch to web page clicks in Firefox 3, many times it stalls for a few seconds with a spinning beach ball before "snapping" to the action. It's maddening.

Any clues, or is this expected behavior with a MLC SSD? Would the Runcore drive fix this? Thanks in advance. -Gary

Yes, that's how the generic MLC SSD works. It's quite annoying. The RunCore will probably fix that, since it's write speed is 3-4x faster. There's a good chance sleep isn't going to work in the RunCore..
