So forget sound issues after sleep, I have no sound period. I had sound once 10.6 was loaded, then ran NBI 0.8.3, and had no sound. Then I downloaded the update for 10.6.1, installed that, booted to safe mode, followed mechdrew's walkthrough again, and restarted.

Still no sound.

GARRRRR.

what am I doing wrong? If i had the sound after sleep issue, fine I was used to that on 10.5.8 using dellEFI.

So why dont I have sound? Please....HELP!!!!

Do this:

Download: Snow Leopard "Verbhelper.kext":
http://www.mydellmini.com/forum/atta...1.0_sl.tgz.zip

1. Show hidden files (if you didn't select "show files" when you installed NBI)

2. Go to extras folder and replace the verbhelper.kext file (/Extra/mini*ext/) overwriting the old file

3. Run the updateextra application in /Extra. Reboot

That happened to me too.
I reran Netbook Installer RC.8.3 again and added a check next to
Enable Bluetooth.
My mini 10v does not have bluetooth, but somehow it worked and I got sound.

make sure you don't have sound on mute.

Followed Bear Hunter's advice and it worked....100% not online do i have sound at boot, from wake sound is immediate. No longer waiting like with 10.5.8 for sound to load.

Everything is faster, is fantastic. Thanks for the help. Much appreciated.

Just stumbled across this site over the weekend and WOW - tons of info. Huge thanks to all who have contributed. Was all excited to get my new Dell Mini 10v running with Snow Leopard only to hit a snag with the audio after the 10.6.1 update. Thanks to Bear Hunter's post, I was able to get my sound working again. Thanks!!

I had this same problem. Following the advice on this thread I just ran updateextra again WITHOUT updating the .kext, and it worked great.

i tried doing what you said to get sound working and have to reinstall the netbook installers all over again. now i'm trying to do it this way:

Mini 1011 (Mini 10v) and OS X - Info - UPDATED for AUDIO!!!!

but here, i have trouble getting a hold of the links...

any help or pointers would be great.

Thank you Bear Hunter. I applied the the .kext file and now do I not only have sound, but it also appears to have resolved my track pad issues. Awesome stuff!
