Hey guys just doin some research on here to make sure I've got it all down before I get my 10v!

I bought SL and have a Leopard Mac (a friends) that I'm gonna use to get SL on my 10v. I have a USB external 250GB hard drive. Can I use that for the install instead of an 8GB thumb drive?

Also, if I planned on keeping Windows XP and doing a dual boot, do I just create a partition within windows like normal and install SL to that partition? Sorta confused about that part.

Yes, you can, that is what I do exactly (need a MAC to run the app - disk utility):

1) use disk utility to format the disk into as many partition you need... I have 5 and 3 of them are small like 10G to make it like a BOOT DVD.
2) use disk utility to create a DMG image of the DVD (10.5, 10.6 the same)
3) use disk utility to restore the DMG image you just created and restore on the partition you need.

Now, you either set that partition to active, or use the TYPE 11 boot (flash drive), or other boot loader method to get to boot.

The newest version of NBM/NBI has built in support for doing a dual boot with MBR for Win 7 or XP. Check out Mecdrew's site for the best written guides and Meklort's blog for details on doing the dual boot.

Unfortunately, it looks like you need to install SL first and then reinstall XP.
