Just finished my 10.6.1 install described in this thread and everything...seriously...EVERYTHING is working flawlessly! Sleep, restart, audio, etc. I was never able to get the two-finger scrolling working right but after running the latest version of NetBookInstaller.app, its now perfect. I couldn't be happier. I just bought a new MacBook Pro and this little thing is seriously going to give it a run for it's money with everything but Photoshop and the rest of the Adobe CS3 Suite. Dock expose' looks so awesome on the Mini. I also used that Set Icon app mentioned on the forum to replace my yellow disc icon for the HD to the one of the Dell Mini in the NetBookInstaller folder. Icing on the cake.

The only thing I still can't get working is bluetooth tethering using the official hack for iPhone. Anyone ever have any luck with that?

Thanks to those that have made this all possible!

Update to my previous post I did a fresh install but still have the slight hissing sound like we had back when we first started using Leopard on the mini 9. Since it does not appear to be any different from the upgrade or fresh install I will timemachine backup to the upgrade version as it will save me time loading all the apps and save me some space as the fresh install without apps is larger than the upgraded version with apps.

For those working on the sound kext I am referring to the old Type11 method and it may be in the old EFI thread or over at insanemac where this work first started last year. This kext >(IOAudioFamily.kext, VoodooHDA.kext) work but is just like the issues back when. I want to say the "smoothy sound fix" <-reference for those who remember back when.

Just stating this for those working on the correct solution not meaning to dis this one. Having sound is great and I want to give props to JGene for his work.

I am glad that sound is working for everybody!

Although I haven't noticed any audio hiss myself, I do believe the issue is intrinsic to the VoodooHDA driver. I noticed bmaltais posted a message about this on the Netputing forum on September 6th. However, once NetBookInstaller 0.8.3 comes with with the fixed audio driver, you won't have to load VoodooHDA anymore.

Everything went well, just had the "Can't get registry-entry path" error during PrefPane install.

Thanks

Am I the only one who gets an endless spinning beach ball after they hit the Update Extensions button in UpdateExtra? How long did that process take for you?

Smile Thank you very much! - 09-15-2009, 09:40 PM

I wanted to post for the Vostro A90 users out there that might be a little out of the loop.

This method works! i have sound. I am designing a instrument that uses the netbook as a controller, and not having sound out was really ridiculous!

only thing you will have to look out for that is different from this guide, when it calls for folders with the name of dellmini9....you just navigate to vostroa90 folders.

simple - love it - thank you so very much!
