Ok, I had a fully working 10.5.8 on my 10v installed via mechdrews USB method guide.

Today I tried the SL install using the guide and NBM found in the thread here. Restored the DVD image to the USB drive, ran NBM on it, installed without any errors. After install I booted into safe mode with -x and ran NBI with the suggested settings. Restarted and got to the main desktop with no problems.

Now, everything else works, Wifi, sleep, etc. But my sound show an X over the volume control when I try to adjust and the icon on my menu bar is grayed out.

Not sure what went wrong since the guide says that audio should be working on the 10v.

Any suggestions or workarounds? I saw a few for the 9, but none for the 10v.

That is strange. I have not had a bit of trouble with sound from the first time I had SL boot successfully. Are you using the very latest edition of NBM? It is getting updated almost every 24 hours, sometimes more frequently. The most recent version has a creation date of 9:47 am September 7, 2009.

If yours is older, try the newer version. If that is the one you are using try running NBI and see if that loads a clean copy of the sound kexts. Another possibility is repairing permissions. Some users have had certain components not recognized initially, like the camera and such, but repairing permissions and rebooting has brought them right into full use. My camera was non-operational until I did this. I would try this first.

Ive repaired permissions from the installers disk utility, from the safe mode desktop and from my normal desktop without any change.

The NBI Im using is the newest one from the tutorial today and Ive run it twice (and redownloaded)

Not sure where the problem could be.

The new final 8.2 NetBookInstaller fixed this problem.
