Question What to "Software Update"? - 09-07-2009, 08:44 PM

After much grief, I finally managed to get my mini10v set up with OSX 10.5.8 and XP.

But Software Update lists a whole bunch of neat, new stuff (including a Security update).

I want to update but don't want to break my setup.

What do people out there do? What updates are generally considered safe and which ones should be avoided?

As far as i know all updates are OK via Software Update EXCEPT the actual OS updates.

ie: 10.5.7 - to - 10.5.8

I'm only running 10.5.7 but i've updated everything else that's been available via Software Update and had no issues at all.

Please wait for more confirmation from others though, as I'm no geek and I don't want you to break your system because I'm a noob.

Mini 9 - 10.5.7 - 2GB Ram - BiosA05 - DellEFI 1.1 - 64GB runcore (installed using 'Runcore on a Mac' method)

Generally, all can be downloaded with Software Update except for OS X revision upgrades. You are at 10.5.8, if they put out a 10.5.9, check here before downloading it, otherwise, all should update nicely, with no problems.

As long as you installed using DellEFI or NetBookMaker, you should have no problems.
