Default Backup to network drive through installer? - 09-03-2009, 07:00 PM

Hey all.

I am trying to figure out if it is possible to make a backup of my OSX installation using the Disk Utility in the Installer to back up to a network drive. I have DHCP setup on my router, but I'm running into several problems. First, the installer doesn't seem to boot when I have an ethernet cable plugged in, and second, if I plug it in after it boots, the 'Network Utility' sees it as 'inactive'. I've tried using terminal to restart en0 to no avail.

Has anyone tried using a network drive for backups? Did you get it working?

I guess my first step would be to get connected to the network.

Anyone have any hints, tips, or suggestions regarding this?
