Default so the 10v works just as well as the 9 ? - 08-28-2009, 03:56 PM

Been trying to work out which dell mini to get and thought i was set on the 9 as i want to instal OS X and had heard that the 9 was far the best netbook to use. Ive been doing some reading and from what i can see the 10v works just as well + it has a bigger screen and can come with 160GB harddrive.

Surly the 10v would be the better choice? or am i missing somthing ?

Using netbookbootmaker and netbookinstaller everything will work out of the box for you. I was dualbooting osx and win7 but decided just to use osx. I followed mechdrew's newest guide here and everything went very smoothly.

No, HDD vs SSD does not matter when it comes to compatibility.

Your cost/Gb on a SSD will be much higher than cost/Gb on a standard HDD. Many users like the SSD because of slightly faster boot times, programs starting quicker, no noise, no moving parts...

I personally have a standard 160Gb HDD in my 10v and I have no issues. My Mini boots up quick, wakes from sleep super fast, has no issues opening files or applications...

Many people bring up battery life and heat when debating HDD vs SSD but it makes such a minute difference that it is irrelevant. Most of the heat will come from your N270 and the GMA950... not from the HDD/SSD.

I've been trying to decide if I want a 10v also and from what I've read the touchpad is the biggest problem with the 10v. Some folks hate it, some think its OK, I don't think anyone loves it. I may have to go to Best Buy to see one in person, even it it'll be running the XP driver I'm sure.

i think its just gunna be a case with getting used to the touch pad on the 10v or the keyboard on the 9 lol

Think im gunna end up going for the 10v as the screen size and the keyboard are much better.

From what im hearing and have read OS X runs just as well on both.... Just for some reason there is more hype around the 9 running it
