Default OSX and HDTV/.MKV Files - 08-26-2009, 07:39 AM

Good Morning,

Im new in this Forum but I got OSX running on my Mini 10v. Now I have a question about running MKV files. They are stucking and nearly unabel to play in VLC (for example). Under Windows 7 they are running smoothly (after a short loading time,I admit). So has someone of you expirience with playing HDTV Movies on your Mini?

install a software called Perian.
Then try to play these files with QuickTime. 720p files worked for me

VLC seems to have some issues

this still works..
once the movie starts playing, open up a terminal and type the following:
osascript -e 'tell application "Quicktime Player" to present movie 1'

click back to the movie in the background.
you can also download a free script that adds a menu item for full screen.

Uhm... if I am not mistaken, Quicktime does Full Screen on the standard version (Simple Command-F keyboard shortcut). The only reason for Quicktime pro is if you have multiple displays and want to present the movie in Full Screen on your secondary display, etc etc.

And +1 for Perian. Works for 720p .mkv here as well.
