Default A little guidance for installing OS X - 08-21-2009, 05:06 PM

I have been reading several of the articles about OS X installation on the Mini 9 and 10v, and I am a bit stuck about what I need to do.

Here's what I have:
- A mini 10v.
- A retail copy of OS X 10.5.
- A PPC Mac.
- An Ubuntu Linux machine.
- A windows machine.
- Plenty of big USB thumb drives.

Here's what I don't have:
- An Intel mac.
- An external DVD drive.

Of the various strategies for installing OS X on the 10v, what will and won't work for me? I don't want to use one of those sketchy pirated "distributions" like iDeneb; I would like to install from the retail version. Is there any way for me to do that with what I have right now?

I'm not looking for a complete breakdown; I'm look for a strategy to point me in the right direction. I can read the docs included under the guides once I know what's going to work for me.

Try out NetbookInstaller 0.8.2 RC4. It *should* work fine for PPC machines.

Dell Mini 9 | Mac OS X 10.6.5 | 2 GB RAM | 32 GB Buffalo SSD | BIOS A05
Dell Mini 10v | Mac OS X 10.6.5 | 1 GB RAM | 160 GB HDD | BIOS A06

I've made some progress, but I'm stuck again. I'm using the 2 USB key PC method mentioned above.

I have my 10.5.0 retail disc copied to the thumb drive via transmac, and I'm using Dell Mini Boot 8.0.1. I downgraded to A04 BIOS. Everything starts, I get the gray Apple splash screen and the spinning activity indicator and then... nothing.

If I boot with -v, I get as far as --
BSD root: disk1s1, major 14, minor 4

And then it just sits there forever. No disk activity of any kind.
