Question Setup asks me to reboot as soon as the OSx DVD loads? - 08-08-2009, 04:38 PM

I'm trying to load OSx on my new dell mini. After I swap the boot cd for the os cd, it goes to a gray screen with the apple logo and then immediately flashes to a gray screen with a restart message on it. Any suggestions?
(Sorry if this is a newbie question, but I am new to this.)

Thank you!

That would be a kernel panic, I'm assuming it looked something like this?

What guide are you using? Also, are you using a retail disc? You won't get support here if you aren't. See here.

If you aren't using a 10.5.6 dvd, you need to use the older version of the boot cd. The new version will only work on 10.5.6.

Try using

Dell Mini 9 | Mac OS X 10.6.5 | 2 GB RAM | 32 GB Buffalo SSD | BIOS A05
Dell Mini 10v | Mac OS X 10.6.5 | 1 GB RAM | 160 GB HDD | BIOS A06

I got it working. I switched over to using this guide, downloaded that DellMiniboot, and it went smoothly from there. (And Yes, I was using a retail disk.) But thank you for your replies!
