So I went back to the start, the gizmodo article I read that got me started on this
hackintosh adventure. I got my hands on a USB DVD drive and did the install with a boot CD and the original OSX install DVD, and here I am writing this post on my mini 10v running 10.5.8.
The OSX installed no errors and then I used DellEFI and did the audio fix with the kext helper and am running the v18 trackpad.
I do have to say that the trackpad is tough on the fingers and is taking a bit of getting used to. It's not the drivers it's the physical trackpad, it's just not very good. An actual physical button would be good. Now I'm thinkin' I'll use a mouse.
Haven't noticed any problem with the battery charging at this stage on 10.5.8 - I like to run with percentage rather than time and it seems to be keeping track ok.
All in all this has been an enlightening experience and I appreciate all the advice that has been given to me on this forum. Thank you - you all rock.
And to anyone considering installing OSX on your mini 10v, I would say stick with it, all the info you need is here in the forums , I'm totally stoked I did it a
nd Im sure you will be too.
