Default Sleep not working after 10.5.8 upgrade - 08-06-2009, 01:33 PM

I did the 10.5.8 and see the same battery issue others are seeing but more importantly I am experiencing a sleep issue. I saw this noted in the other thread by someone so I'm not alone. I wanted to start a new thread as I see this as a large issue of it's own.

1-I verified that legacy USB support is disabled
2-I found that both closing the lid or selecting sleep from the menu causes the system to freeze upon wake-up. The freeze is kind of strange. Some things works for a bit but the menu's start freezing until you are stuck with the pinwheel. Only recovery is a forced power down.

Is this something the vast majority of the people are now seeing?

If so, are one of the guru's able to look at this issue and see if there is a resolution?

Thanks all!

Can you outline a few more details about how you did your 10.5.8 upgrade? Did you rerun DellEFI to create a new dsdt file, etc?

I wasn't asking because I wanted to know how to do it, I was asking for clarification in order to help troubleshoot the OP's problem. fjmartin was also quite clear that they were aware of the thread you're referring to, and started this one for a reason, but didn't supply enough specific information.

Starting a new thread for every problem with 10.5.8? Makes sense to me. Hopefully, someone will start a new thread about the battery issue.

EDIT: Nevermind. I see HotDog has started one with the title, "Let's fix the "Not Charging" Issue!"

I did the upgrade using the combo download.

Upon completion there were no errors.

After boot I re-ran DellEFI1.2a5 and removed the custom dsdt.aml file.

I then ran it again and reinstalled Dell Mini 9 Extensions, Created custom dsdt.aml file, restored the 10.5.5 keyboard pref pane and 'fixed' bluetooth.

I rebooted.

I then reinstalled the meklort trackpad drivers, fixed the bluetooth on/off issue and reinstalled the aboutthismac.pkg.

I have tried using sleep from the menu, closing the lid or using Fn-1 and all have the issue.

I am experiencing this also. When it wakes from sleep, I get the spinning beach ball and I loose the wi-fi icon in the menu bar. Update :
Just tried it again (wake from sleep) and now the Finder is unresponsive, no wi-fi.

Eligos, I notice that in your signature line it says "USB Legacy support: [Enabled]". Are you experiencing this issue if you disable this?

My bad , I had forgotten to change my signature(corrected). It is indeed "Disabled" so
that cannot be the problem. Thanks for noticing.
I will post this in the 10.5.8 thread, it maybe of some help to others.
