Thinking of trying Dropbox? Use this referal link and we'll both get an extra 250MB of storage.

This worked on my Mini 9 (16GB STEC SSD, 2GB RAM, USB BIOS Legacy Support Disabled). Thanks!

Or simply download this Attachment 1898 but be sure you have a Disabler.kext or similar fix for prevent that AppleIntelCPU... loads at startup.

Ok, I'm still having problems with sleep.

I downloaded the mini9-stec-1058-sleep.zip file and tried several ways to install it, and still sleep fails on my STEC 16GB, 2GB, BT, 1.3Mpx, WiFi Mini 9 system.

What I tried was copying the file to /Extra/Mini9Ext and running DellEFI1.2a5 to reinstall Mini9 Extensions.

I noticed that the new AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext shows as 120kb and the old version shows as 100kb. That is BEFORE running DellEFI. After running DellEFI the file in /Extra/Mini9Ext is back to 100kb.

I tried dropping AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext (directly from my downloads folder) on KextHelper, and that appeared to do the right thing, but sleep still didn't work.

Last, I copied AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext back into the /Extra/Mini9Ext folder and dropped that onto KextHelper. Checked out it's advanced mode, which shows it was copied to the system library. Sleep still not working.

Found /Extra/UpdateExtra, so I re-copied AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext, ran UpdateExtra, dropped copied file/folder onto KextHelper, reran DeffEFI1.2a5 to delete custom dsdt.aml file and rebooted into safe mode with -x. Then reran DellEFI1.2a5 to create custome dsdt.aml file, and rebooted. Sleep still not working.

Oh, and by Sleep not working, I mean it appears to go to sleep just fine. THe power light even goes to the fade/blink mode. On Wake, I get the background picture on the main screen, but the external screen never comes alive, and I see no cursor.

Any ideas? Everything else still seems to work. Not sure of the battery indicator, but it was working before I forgot to plug it back in last night. Until someone identifies what isn't working and why, I think I'm done trying for a little while. I might try a re-install of the 10.5.8 incremental, but since that's what I'm running it may not do much. One last thing is to try repair permissions, which I haven't done yet.

Nope - still has the problem

The sleep and wake *functions* seems to work, but it seems the hardware isn't reporting to the OS when to do them. Have rebuilt dsdt to no effect.

Sleep don't work after 10.5.8 security update. What's going on?

Had you already applied the AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext or did you apply it after installing the 2009-004 Security Update?

Sleep is working OK for me after I applied the AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext but I have not rushed to do the 2009-004 update as I have not enabled the BIND DNS server in OS X so the security vulnerability should not be an issue for me.

I had applied the kext before the security update. However, I'm not entirely clear why it failed after the security update because I broke the upgrade rule and installed the battery fix BEFORE testing so I don't know what went wrong. It could be the security upgrade, it could be the battery fix, just don't know. So rolled back the system library to before upgrade, reinstalled kexts, got sleep to work (took 3 reboots), got battery fix and bluetooth fix to work, repaired permissions and cleaned out caches using a proggie called Maintenance, checked for updates (told me it's up-to-date) and sleep seems to work - albeit intermittently. Doesn't like going from mains power to battery and vice versa. Sometimes it won't go twice in a row... mainly wi-fi hangs. If it hangs for more than 10 seconds, it's not going to wake.

I'm getting a bit hacked off with the instability.

I installed the latest security update and sleep is working for me. Just tried it and it came back fine with all programs running and sound and wifi and bluetooth functioning. I'm wondering if it could be something else. I noticed that since the Energy Saver Preference Pane was now working, I went in a clicked on Restore Defaults for what was probably a stupid reason. When I did that it turned hibernate back on and created the 2GB file. Had to disable to restore sleep.

sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 0
sudo rm /var/vm/sleepimage
