Ok.. Might just be a fluke but I got it working.

Booted in Safe mode (-x),
Opened DellEFI 1.2a5 > Custom;
Delete custom dsdt file
Disable hibernate

Save and reboot
Boot straight into BIOS Setup screen (hammer 2 on start up).
Disable USB Legacy Support
Disable USB Wake support
Disable Protected Memory
thus:

Boot up normally, run DellEFI 1.2a5 > custom
Generate dsdt
Enable Hibernate

Save and reboot

Boom.. works.

I tried the exact same procedure without success... Sleep/wakeup still hangs the machine.

nope... tried BAF's upgrade to Chameleon r640 and run with hibernation enabled - it worked once and I thought yay! But on reboot it gave me all that stuff about the sleep file being out of date and sleep didn't work so bye bye 10.5.8.... and revert...

For the mini 9 users, what type of specs do you guys have? I'm experiencing the same sleep problem and I remember the STEC drivers used to have sleep problem in early DellEFI days:

16GB Stec
1.3 MP webcam
2.1 Bluetooth
2GB RAM
NetBookInstaller 0.8.1

Maybe we can find something in common that's causing the problem.

16Gb STEC, 2Gb RAM, 0.3 MP webcam, 2.1 BT, standard Dell WiFi card, DellEFI 1.2a5, I think I have Chameleon 2.0 RC2 r640 - I can't tell but I did install it - the grey load screen still says it's r421, 10.5.8 - can't think of anything else...

Default Sleep broken here as well.... - 08-10-2009, 10:19 PM

After checking the 10.5.8 thread start page everything seemed peachy, the only problem reported was a battery display issue and so I went ahead and let the upgrade run, big mistake, so wish I'd read the other 14 pages (now 19 and growing) of people having issues with sleep, that will teach me, thankfully its updated now, my experience:

Initially DellEFI 1.1

Install 10.5.8 - Sound brokenm Sleep broken, boots, OK, run DellEFI1.1 and reinstall updates, remove dstl.aml, reboot, regenerate dsdt.aml, reboot

Sound working, Sleep Broken - Wakes up OK but with a second of waking the screen the wifi icon disappears from the finder bar, although wifi is still actually working. Finder bar not responsive, machine will not shutdown, no apps launch but can switch between open ones.

Install DellEFI1.2a - Reinstall updates, remove dsdt.aml, reboot, reinstall updates, regenertate dsdt.aml, rebooot

Sleep still broken as above

Boot into safe mode - Reinstall updates, remove dsdt.aml, reboot into safe mode, reinstall updates, regenertate dsdt.aml, rebooot

Sleep still broken

Very very frustrated. Is it possible to restore without booting into OSX DVD? I installed with a 16GB USB stick but thats not usable at the moment. Does anyone have a bootable usb with just enough to run restore so I can go back to my time machine backup.

Thanks

Kate

Are you running a mini9 or 10v. This thread worked perfectly for me. Note New EFI for 10v:
