So whatever the issue is here, it seems different than the other issue. It does sleep but basically it doesn't wake up. Only thing that works on wake-up is the touch pad.

As I stated before, I don't use sleep anyway so this is in no way a big deal to me.
Similar here. I Updated via Software Update, reinstalled extensions only (with DellEFI 1.2a5), rebooted deleted dsdt-file, generated new dsdt-file and rebooted again. Then everything seemed to work except the battery icon issue.

I quickly checked closing the lid and it woke up correctly. Then I installed the recent security update 2009-004. Then I did as before (don't know if it was neccessary): reinstalled extensions, rebooted, deleted dsdt-file, generated new one and rebooted again. Thereafter my Mini 9 didn't wake up correctly. It showed only a black screen, and the mouse pointer, but it didn't show the login window. Had to turn it off to reboot.

I reinstalled the extensions. Then the login window reappeared and I could log in. But like Enigmafan420's except the trackpad nothing worked. iStatMenu kept showing the CPU usage but stopped after a while. No apps were running in the background.

It even beachballs after waking up, when I activated the sleep mode from the login screen after booting before logging in.

Don't know if the wake up issue is really related to the security update 2009-004. Has anyone else the issue after installing it? Did you install it, Enigmafan420?

Sleep mode is really essential to me. Hope someone turns up with a solution.

I have been so busy with work and kids this week I haven't even had a chance to see what kind of SSHD I have-it is stock so I am assuming this will resolve the problem.

I am encouraged that it worked for you and will give it a go tonight and report back.

Dell mini 9, running 10.5.7.
Just ran Software Update to get to 10.5.8.
On reboot, I had no sound and no wifi.
Reran DellEFI, did 'reinstall Dell extensions' and replaced the keyboard prefpain with 10.5.5's version.
Rebooted.

Everything's fine save for the battery time indicator and power-management issue. Sleep/wake works fine for me (actually works better than under 10.5.7, where periodically I would freeze on wake; hasn't happened once since upgrading to 10.5.8 on Sunday).

Here is my setup before starting the upgrade:
Black Dell Mini 9 | OS X 10.5.7 | 2Gb RAM | 16Gb STEC SSD | 32Gb Class 6 SDHC | BIOS A05 | 0.3MP Camera | no WWAN | DellEFI1.2a5 | Bluetooth On/Off | Meklort Trackpad V.18 | AboutThisMac.pkg | Monolingual | USB BIOS Legacy Support: Disabled | USB Wake Support: Disabled | All other BIOS settings at default

Boot up your Dell Mini 9 on 10.5.X (I was on 10.5.7 and everything worked except mirroring on an external monitor. Spanning works fine)
Remove the Extra folder from /Extra and move it to the trash
Run DellEFI1.2a5
Ignore the warning about not being a supported machine
Leave everything at default
Reboot
Run MacOSXUdpCombo10.5.8 update
DO NOT UPGRADE FROM SOFTWARE UPDATE
The install takes longer than the screen says, especially at the 3 minute mark. Be patient…it will finish but may take 15 minutes to do so from the 3 minute mark
Reboot when finished
It may reboot itself a few times before providing the login screen
Be patient
Login and reboot again to get your WiFi working
Run DellEFI1.2a5
Select - Remove custom dsdt.aml file
Unselect - Fix bluetooth
Reboot when finished
Login and run DellEFI1.2a5 again
Select - Custom Installation

Drag AppleSMBIOS.kext update file
Downloaded from AppleSMBIOS.kext.zip
Drag AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext update file
Downloaded from stashbox.org : free anonymous file hosting
Type in your Password
Select EASY INSTALL
Reboot when finished
Login and test
Energy Saver Preference Pane shows both Battery and Power Adapter
Unplugging power correctly shows battery time available
Closing lid, waiting a minute and opening lid wakes correctly from sleep
WiFi takes a second or two to wake up
Fix a few things that break during upgrade
Install aboutthismac.pkg
Downloaded from AboutThisMac.pkg -- October 21, 2008 5:08 pm -- 3k
Do Bluetooth ON/OFF fix
Instructions at http://www.mydellmini.com/forum/mac-...nal-mod-8.html
Reactivate 2 finger trackpad scroll

Remove /Extra.bak by moving to trash
Empty Trash
Run Monolingual
Languages – Remove all but the language you want
Select – Remove
Select - Continue
Enter your Password
Select – OK
Input Menu – Remove all but the ones you want
I remove all but “AppleKeyboardLayouts”
Select – Remove
Select – Continue
Enter your Password
Select – OK
Architectures – Remove all but Intel which is the default
Select – Remove
Enter your Password
Select – OK
Reboot yet once again!
Login and test test test
Sleep
Power Meter (both percentage and time)
Web cam
Printing
Wifi
Bluetooth
My Personal applications
USB Devices
SD Card Slot
Keyboard
Trackpad and 2 finger scrolling
Internet Browsing
Sound
Microphone
Remote Disc
AFP and SMB File Sharing
Looked through all the System Preferences to make sure all looked good
Looked through System Profiler to make sure everything looks good
I did not test mirroring as I don’t use it and I can’t see why it would be automagically fixed
If it’s all good then for gosh sakes….back it up! Mine is…so I did!
I like to use Carbon Copy Cloner and Time Machine

Great summary!!

Now I have everything working like a charm!

Just one small detail: the Trackpad tab has desapeared from the mouse and keyboard section in the system preferences. I tryed to restore the 10.5.5 pref pane with dellefi installer but it didn't work.

Anybody else is having the same problem??

There is a kext posted a few pages back for the PATA STEC drive. That fixed this issue for me.

System Preferences / Keyboard & Mouse shows 4 tabs. Keyboard, Mouse, Bluetooth, Keyboard Shortcuts. But I do have the Meklort Trackpad preference pane under the main System Preferences/ Other. This is the same as I had when running 10.5.7 and see no change in appearance or behavior. My MacBook Pro only lists 3 items under Keyboard and Mouse. Keyboard, Bluetooth and Keyboard Shortcuts. I have preference panes for my Microsoft and Logitech mice under Other.
