I'm thinking about just waiting for 10.6. Is there a need to do an upgrade to 10.5.8 in order to go to 10.6?

Thanks,

Not quite sure what you mean by "clean install," but I installed 10.5.6 to my RunCore via the USB cable, then updated everything, including 10.5.8 without thinking, before running DellEFI and installing in my Mini. So 10.5.8 the first version to boot on the Mini, and yes, it suffered the same power indicator problems that (almost) everyone else is reporting.

I wasn't happy with a less than 100% result, so I went back and reinstalled and updated to 10.5.7, which is where I'm at now. I'll let the experts blaze the trail and follow along behind once there's a clear path.

I added yours and kept SMBIOSResolver.kext (from DellEFI) and it didn't work either.

Sorry if I didn't word it right. Meant starting a new install from the start using a 10.5.5 install disc and following the usual install guide found on gizmodo.

Thanks for all the real time updates - I think I'll stick with 10.5.7 when the mini9 arrives, too.

I just botched a type 11 install upgrading to 10.5.8 before running the dellefi. After I ran it just times out at startup running the little spinny lines forever, how can I reset and restart the installation, should i just run the netbook installer method, I basically want to flash the ssd and start over but I can't find that option. Any help would be great???

So I am able to install 10.5.6 fine - everything works like a dream. I run netbookinstaller, and everything works fine including audio.

When I try to upgrade to either 10.5.7 or the combo update to 10.5.8, it updates and then when it reboots INTO osx (so after 1 or 2 reboots by the update) the desktop is white with some single-pixel black lines across it. I can see the mouse, and nothing else.

I can boot into safe mode fine. Anyone else have this problem?

Run netbookinstaller again from safe mode, and select "Install Mini9 Extensions". Reboot normally once it's done.

Thinking of trying Dropbox? Use this referal link and we'll both get an extra 250MB of storage.

Installed 10.5.8 update fairly easily, at least easier then i feared it would be.

System had a kp upon reboot. Did a hard reset and it was fine. Deleted dsdt.aml, Ran DellEFI 1.2a5, Loaded 3 kexts from the vanilla audio thread; HDAEnabler, VerbHelper, LegacyAppleHDA with kexthelperb7. Left the AppleHDA.kext alone that is in the system/library/extensions dont know if 10.5.8 makes a new one or if its my previously installed kext from the first time i fixed audio.

All is functioning perfect just as it was in 10.5.7

Note I tried using netbookinstaller and had no luck so i went with DellEFI

UPDATE- Magically when i got home from work and turned the mini back on sound is broken with nothing showing in sound pref device menus
