so is everyone using the combo update? when i did the 10.5.7 update i did it using the software update and then rebooted in safemode and reinstalled efi and had no issues. I'm curious why the combo update is necessary.

I have seen the not charging issue. I never resovled it. I was using a macbook pro (new '09) disk for install though and for some reason it was giving me that "not charging" issue.

i did the software update, but i was using a retail dvd on usb initially...i think those using a 'hacked' mac osx do the combo update method...though i'm probably wrong.

sleep when i close the lid seems to have started working all on it's own. but i've rebooted several times since then.

add me to the list battery issues... all other features work fine.

might a attempt a time machine restore when i get home and revert back to 10.5.7 until the bugs get worked out of this update.

I had my 10v working perfectly with 10.5.7. Now I've updated to 10.5.8 and re-installed all the drivers and hacks I had before. Audio works, bluetooth works, the battery indicator is screwy but sleep for sure is not working properly. Before I had very reliable sleep but with the scratched audio on wake-up.

I can put it to sleep from the menubar. If I do it only wakes up using the power button and it's always in a frozen state. The screen is on but the mouse pointer is gone and the keyboard does nothing.

I can get sleep mode by closing the lid as well (the light pulses) but when I open the lid the same thing happens as above. Frozen machine, no mouse pointer.

Is this something others are seeing too? I'm using dellefi 1.2a5

I'm in the same boat as you. 10.5.8 caused me some problems on my Mini9. It works fine other than the battery indicator and the whole "sleep causes lockups" issue. I'm about to fire up the installer USB key and time machine myself back to 10.5.7 so I can use my system again.

I did try reinstalling the extensions, generating a new dsdt.aml and the usual tricks to no avail. The problems are consistent no matter what I try.

When I have some more time to burn, I will do a clean 10.5.6 installation and run the 10.5.8 combo updater on a clean install to see if I can unfail this mess.

I'm using MiniBatteryLogger now to get the time remaining.

Also installed the MiniBatteryWidget.

Has anyone done a clean install to 10.5.8 yet? If so, do the same problems (battery, sleep, etc.) occur? I have a new mini9 en-route (took advantage of the 4 days sale) and was wondering if I should download the 10.5.7 update to have ready instead...

What are the advantages of going from 10.5.7 to 10.5.8 ? So far, from this thread, I only see additional problems, but no additional functionality ?
