Default 6 cell battery issue PLEASE HELP - 08-05-2009, 05:30 AM

I am currently running OSX 10.5.6 on my dell mini 9 and I purchased a 6 cell battery from ebay. After installing the battery I noticed that the indicator lights on the bottom left corner of my dell mini keep blinking on and off(white and orange). After restarting the computer I got the following message.

WARNING: The battery cannot be identified.
This system will be unable to charge this battery.

Has anyone encountered this problem. If so what did you do to correct it.
