Yes, restore the 10.5.5 trackpad in the DellEFI settings, that'll sort you out
Don't know about the permissions thing.

The warning can happens with an patch and upgrades
From Apple : Mac OS X 10.5: Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions messages that you can safely ignore
I succeed remove these warning by re-installing 10.5.7 using Combo version and boot in safe mode install again DellEFI with "Remove custom dsdt.aml file" checked.
Reboot, safe mode again DellEFI "custom dsdt.aml file" checked.
