Default Migrating Causes Original to Not Boot - 07-27-2009, 05:07 PM

Twice, this has happened with completely different systems.

When migrating an account from one Hackintoshed Mini to another using OSX's Migration Assistant, the original Mini loses its ability to boot, getting into that "boot0: Done" loop which reboots you back to the Inspiron logo.

Yeah, I'm having a banner week with these things. Anyone ever encounter this? And can I get my original to ever boot again? How? Thanks.

Well, this is a phenom no one seems to have except me. This has now just happened a THIRD time, migrating a Mac Mini 10v to another Mac Mini 10v. The info made the trip (but without the email accounts), but the original 10v refuses to boot, getting stuck at:

boot0: GPT
boot0: testing
boot0: testing
boot0: done_

Booting with the USB stick to run Netbook Installer and reinstalling the Chamelon Bootloader did not make a difference.

Has anyone attempted a migration (with the Migration Assistant) from Mini to Mini? If you were able to still use both, I'd appreciate finding out how you did it. Thanks!

Never done this myself, so I'm asking out of curiosity: how did you trasfer the data? I'm assuming it was via Ethernet/Wifi. I doubt you took out the SSD to transfer it directly, unless you have a Runcore.

From what I've seen, you could also try a migration from a Time Machine backup, but again I've never tried it. So maybe whatever you are doing you should try another way.

Yeah, I'm doing it via wi-fi. I just don't understand how that affects the bootup of the original Mini. Seems like it should have no effect, but there it is.

Did you ever figure out what happened here? I encountered this same situation last night; Mini 10v source to Mini 10v that I wanted to migrate to. Used Migration Assistant via Wi-fi, the target system completed fully, works great, however the source Dell Mini now boots to Boot0: Done. This makes no sense to me.

Anyone figured this out?
