Default Using External Monitor Only in OSX - 07-27-2009, 06:24 AM

I've searched this forum and Google for help on this. I've found several different things but have yet to find the answer I'm looking for. I already have OSX installed on my Mini 9. I basically want to use it as a cheap Mac Mini. I'd like to be able to close the screen and use only an external monitor. Obviously, when I close my monitor, it shuts off. Is there a way to disable this? Secondly, is there a way to disable the screen on the Mini 9 instead of spanning across 2 screens? Every once and a while something will go over to the Mini 9 screen when I don't want it to. It would be nice to only use the external monitor. Any help is appreciated.

I can imagine that gets stupid slow and heats up insanely fast.

I have yet for an external monitor to work, mirroring would be the best, but I can't get anything working.. so again.. until then.......

-Dell Mini 9 - Refurb $269: Obsidian Black, 32GB STEC SSD, 8GB Kingston SDHC (left from previous owner), 2GB 667Mhz RAM, 1.3MP Camera, Bluetooth, Mac OSX 10.5.7
-Dell e1705 - New $1055: ATi X1400 OC/ed 175% faster, XPS 1710 Heatsinks, XPS 1710 Body
e1705 is old, it needs not to be upgraded, but rather be replaced.

I wouldn't do it, and don't recommend it, but it is exactly what the OP was asking to do.

As a side note, if i set it to vga only on bootup using fn-f1 twice, (mini10v) it just hangs and won't boot.
