Default Help-Flash utility to recover data off Mac partition? - 07-24-2009, 05:42 AM

My Mini9 was working perfectly for several months running OS X and it was awesome. I actually was triple booting it as I do have to go into Windows every now and then just to do some business applications. Anyway, my computer crashed and now will not boot any of the (3)OSs. Fedora is showing bad inode and Vista and Mac both just get stuck forever at boot. Guess the entire hdd went corrupt, which is weird as I thought the SSDs were suppose to be more reliable.

How can I recover data off my Mac partition? I am guessing it was using HFS+ filesystem. Is there a Flash utility that I can boot off of so I can attempt to mount the Mac partition and try to copy off a few files? Just need to try and recover a few pictures that I do not have in my last backup. I do not have an external CD-Rom

Don't go panic it is very easy to recover your data back,i would suggest using Stellar Phoenix Mac Recovery software which is quite helpful and efficient in recovering data from damaged or corrupted Mac Hard Drives, Digital Cameras, Memory Cards, iPod, and Memory Sticks....

Personally, I'd boot up a Linux LiveCD, mount the Mac partition read-only (since it's suspect) and try to copy the files elsewhere.

I realize you don't have an external optical drive, but there are tools to put LiveCD images on USB drives, like UNetbootin and Ubuntu's usb-creator. Or you can use the Ubuntu Netbook Remix Live installer, which is intended for use on a USB drive. Or you could install a full version of Linux on a USB drive (not just a LiveCD).

I hope you can get your pics back.
