Default Mini 9 doesnt see sd card anymore - 07-21-2009, 01:01 AM

Help -- my dell mini 9 doesnt see my sd card anymore. I have no Eject option, no card on my desktop. Help?

I had a similar problem in XP. The 9 would only recognize it if I rebooted the computer with the card in.

I tried a really old 256 mb sd card and it sees that one. Looks like my 2nd SD card died...

Can you see it in Disk Utility? --- I would check Finder Preferences (Side Bar). Some people have thought they couldn't see the drive because its not showing up in the Sidebar, etc... If someone has accidentally draged it out of the sidebar, it may appear invisible even though it is installed. (I find that the Sidebar Preferences should be blank or have a check mark. Dashes usually are trouble because can't find a drive where they exspect it.)

It's possible the filesystem is corrupt, but the card is fine. It's also possible that the card is dead. I'd check the system log after inserting the card.

When I had cards die, the error messages in the system log were helpful in diagnosing the failure.
